Send your Spanish-speaking friends to YouTube to see what a small group Bible study would look like when using oral strategies! MAF-LT's video team recorded a live session of Simply The Story, an oral inductive Bible study. Laura Macias delivers "One Leper" from Mark 1:40-45 and follows with questions that has the entire group excited about finding lessons from God's Word and sharing how they apply to their lives today.

Oral Strategies Workshops in Sierra Leone 1-18 Nov

Freetown, Sierra LeoneFreetown, Sierra Leone

Arrival
Sierra Leone revealed something when our Air France flight from Paris stopped first in Conakry, Guinea.  Three-quarters of the passengers got off the plane - including the crew who would overnight there before returning to France.  A rested crew took over, flew an additional 40 minutes south to drop us off in Freetown, Sierra Leone, then headed north for home.

Story-Telling Workshop Succeeds

Last week 32 people traveled from California, Colorado, Oregon and Idaho to participate in MAF-LT's "Oral Strategies Workshop." Using primarily the STS (Simply The Story) method, Regina Manley directed the 5-day training session aimed at equipping pastors and church leaders with the exciting tool of Bible story-telling.

Regina trains today's Church leaders to use the same technique Jesus used. Story-telling does not replace preaching or teaching. Instead it returns an important tool to the minister's box.

Lesotho Story Workshop Generates Remarkable Results

A remarkable thing happened after Regina’s Simply The Story workshop in Maseru, Lesotho, last May.

Our first “how did it go?” analysis yielded disappointing results. We always try to leave behind strong instructors who will train others to share God’s Word with stories. Interaction with the students seemed particularly good, but far fewer people participated than anticipated. Did we waste a trip?

Now, just four months later, we hear marvelous news...

MAF-LT Conducts STS Workshop in Twin Peaks, CA

MAF-LT Orality Specialist, Regina Manley, directed an STS Story-Telling workshop in the southern California mountains near Lake Arrowhead.  The Calvary Chapel Conference Center in Twin Peaks provided beautiful meeting rooms among the pines.  This workshop had the unusual advantage of being hosted by MAF-LT Director, Richard & Patricia Morris.

The 5-day workshop that ran from 20-24 July, equipped new practitioners and sharpened instructor's skills.   Local pastors, a missionary family from Kazakhstan, a FedEx pilot, and San Bernardino teachers were among those who participated.
