Send your Spanish-speaking friends to YouTube to see what a small group Bible study would look like when using oral strategies! MAF-LT's video team recorded a live session of Simply The Story, an oral inductive Bible study. Laura Macias delivers "One Leper" from Mark 1:40-45 and follows with questions that has the entire group excited about finding lessons from God's Word and sharing how they apply to their lives today.

Freetown, Sierra LeoneArrival
Sierra Leone revealed something when our Air France flight from Paris stopped first in Conakry, Guinea. Three-quarters of the passengers got off the plane - including the crew who would overnight there before returning to France. A rested crew took over, flew an additional 40 minutes south to drop us off in Freetown, Sierra Leone, then headed north for home.

Hard to believe, but it's over. Our 1st Oral Strategies Workshop conducted here at our Nampa, Idaho facility yielded testimonies like these:
"Opened a whole new world!"
"I feel that I can now talk to my family about my faith."
"It's given me more confidence in sharing the Gospel."
"This opened a whole new opportunity. I heard of storying ... and of its value - but had no idea it could be so quick and easy to learn a story. I am much encouraged."
"I learned how to learn a story better. It taught me how to come up with ideas I hadn't learned."
"Gave me new insight into Bible content and also more confidence in discussing it."
"Refreshes God's Word..."

But how will he train leaders?
Submitted by nivins on Fri, 08/01/2008 - 10:00We have been interacting with Naveen, an evangelist/pastor/leadership trainer in India. Naveen is seeing many come to Christ and he is actively developing leaders for the many new groups of believers where he works. The challenge is that many of them don’t read or write even one word. He is asking MAF LT to help him develop leadership development materials that he can use with these leaders.
What do “materials” for non-literates look like? What are the issues in transforming training materials written for lettered cultures into materials for oral cultures? Should that even be attempted? We invite you to participate with us through prayer for wisdom as we wade into this with Naveen.Below is a recent e-mail from him.
