Transforming Lives in Latin America and Beyond

What a challenge each day serving with Learning Technologies. The broad world of both Education and Technology do not find boundaries in an easy way.
Languages, cultures, time, distances and geographic barriers are overcame by Learning Technologies.
While I take some time to write this entry, several things are happening simultaneously in different parts of the world. Those are possible as a result of our team hard work: Haiti partners are producing courses in both French and Kreyol, Brasilian partners are preparing themselves to receive an Instructional Design distance course in Portuguese, Costa Rican partners are teaching high quality courses to students located in at least 24 different countries, meetings in Spain are being conducted to continue impacting Spanish and beyond communities, organizations are preparing to receive Oral Strategies workshops during this year in Guatemala, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica and Ecuador, wonderful volunteers are approaching to Latino communities and organizations to make an impact in that big group, professionals in our Costa Rica office are making the last arrangements to start a course on Virtual Learning Environments next Monday and far far away in the jungles of Colombia and Venezuela dear indigenous friends are bringing Hope to communities sharing and teaching about God.
One more thing is happening now in a slum in Costa Rica. Kids in the ages of 10 to 16 years old are learning how to think more logically and are being equipped with tools for their life through a Community Learning Center.
What a privilege being part of this transformational organization which is bringing knowledge, tools and most important hope to this world.

Brazil SETIEL Training at Curitiba

SETIEL seminary is a well know Christian organization that has been training pastors and leaders in Brazil for the last 13 years. Around 15 highly qualified professors have been traveling all over the country to provide planned lessons for the pastors and leaders to complete two levels of training (basic and leadership).

Portuguese is the fifth language most spoken around the world. Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world, following Russia, Canada, USA, and China.

SETIEL faculty and staff have identified the great need for an advanced level of training for those pastors and leaders.

We have been assisting them with Consulting and Training, and helping them with the design and development of a project called "Advanced Training Level for Pastors and Leaders" during the last two years.

Rosalia Sanchez and Carina Miyakawa (two key members of our Education Services department) had the privilege of teaching five weeks of online training to 10 members of the SETIEL faculty in Carina´s mother tongue, Portuguese. This training was taught during the months of April and May. The main topic was Instructional Design. The faculty is in the process of designing and producing content that is going to be delivered online for their students.

Last June 13th through the 16th Rosalia visited the city of Curitiba to conduct a workshop for the faculty about three main areas:

  1. Follow up the previous online training, focused mainly on curriculum design.
  2. Theory and practice on the new SETIEL Moodle platform (the one that the institution is going to use for teaching online).
  3. Training on Curriculum Profile for the faculty to better shape and plan the content that they will be producing and delivering.

Please pray for further steps in this project.

We will be producing some tutorials on the usage of Moodle for Professors, Administrators and Technicians both in Spanish and Portuguese.

This is a project where each member of our team has played a key role.
