MAF-LT website update - technical

MAF-LT has recently upgraded its web presence with some new tools.  In an effort to help us keep information current, we have consolidated our website into a Content Management System (CMS).  An ideal CMS system allows for an easy way to edit and manage information.  After research and testing several different CMSes, we ended up choosing Drupal.  We are coupling Drupal with a LDAP database to help us to connect all of our tools together.  The main purpose behind this step is to provide a centralized architecture for our tools to plug into.  In the future, we are looking at integrating Single Sign On capacity to our website to help reduce fatigue as users navigate between MAF-LT's different online tools.

Poodle 1.0 Release

MAF-LT is excited to announce the official release of Poodle, a portable Moodle solution!  Poodle was developed out of the need to be able to view existing Moodle content in an offline setting.  Poodle helps to bridge the gap in areas where internet access is either not reliable or not affordable.

Please visit the Poodle information page for more information.

Here is a response about Poodle from one of our partners:

Thanks so much for all your work at MAF on this project.  We had a board meeting the other day for Horizon, and many are excited about this project.  It will be useful for students that don’t have access to a personal computer and want to study. They can go to a café and use the Poodle to plug in and work. It will be useful for students in the secured countries that cannot identify themselves and want to study in a secure environment.

I will keep you posted on the use and progress of Poodle as we move forward.

Please express our gratitude to all those at MAF for their careful and long work on this project.  Keep up the good work for the Kingdom of God.  We deeply appreciate all your efforts.

MAF and AIM Equip Church Planters with Focused Digital Libraries

Two hundred African church planting students will gain access to key Christian literature and study materials through a joint project between MAF-Learning Technologies (MAF-LT) and Africa Inland Mission (AIM) called 'Training in Ministry Outreach' (TIMO).

TIMO’s goal is to establish churches in largely unchurched regions through a two-year missionary training program that will send teams of 10 students to each village. Training materials are key to the organization’s work. However, getting useful materials in hard-copy format into remote regions of central Africa is costly, cumbersome, and can be dangerous.
