Brian and Christy Ward familyBrian and Christy Ward, along with their children Tyler, Grace, Jenny, Jonathan, and Sarah, are missionaries assigned to the Learning Technologies of Mission Aviation Fellowship, living in Nampa, Idaho.

Brian feels that he is blessed to be able to use his skills and experiences in course design and instructional technology to further God's Kingdom. Brian helps ministries design culturally appropriate materials to train Christian leaders.

A great example of a way technology can be used to bring a multitude of Christian resources to those around the world who otherwise would never be able to have them are solar-powered audio players containing audio Bibles and training in "local languages" for the many who cannot read. Other examples are resources on CD-ROMs or training conducted through the Internet. A favorite verse for Brian as he faces new challenges is Joshua 1:9. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Brian grew up in rural East Tennessee where he greatly enjoyed the outdoors. Through his parents' diligent training, Brian recognized his need for a Savior at an early age. Later in college, the students and staff in Campus Crusade for Christ were instrumental in showing him how to live for God and how to disciple others. Brian enjoys teaching the Scripture and for many years has longed for a way to merge this desire with his love for technology. He attended the University of Tennessee and conducted graduate work at Virginia Tech. Prior to joining MAF, Brian developed Web-based courses and trained faculty in the use of instructional technology at Virginia Tech. He then served as Chief Information Officer for the University of Virginia's College at Wise, VA.

Christy continues to homeschool her children, enlarging their vision for missions and together, as a family, ministering through hospitality to traveling missionaries and to international refugees staying in their area. Knowing her ways are not God's ways, Christy's prayer has been Psalm 25:4, 5. "Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."

Christy grew up near Atlanta, Georgia. When she was fourteen, her family returned home to the Clinton, Tennessee area. This move was instrumental in her coming to know Christ as her Savior later that same year. Church, godly friends, and teachers encouraged her to grow in her faith and read the Bible daily. During Christy's years at the University of Tennessee, her involvement with Campus Crusade for Christ equipped her with a heart to share the Gospel with those around her. Christy has continued to pursue an interest in fitness and nutrition. Brian and Christy met in high school. During college, their friendship grew and they were married soon after Brian started graduate school.

God has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you to play a special role in the ministry of MAF around the world.

You are invited to become a ministry partner with Brian and Christy in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer and/or financial support.
